ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Mesogaia Visual Artists Association presents at Imagine Visual Arts works by forty-eight artists who approach the female presence as an embodied experience, cultural formation and carrier of historical continuity.
The modern woman moves in an environment of multiple demands. The professional role, motherhood, creative activity, social participation coexist in a single experience. Managing this complexity requires constant recomposition of the self, flexibility and inner resilience. "Invisible Seams", curated by art historian Eleni Gatsa, attempts to render this condition through works that carry intensity, sensitivity and awareness of the subject.
The title functions as a central metaphor. The "seam" denotes connection and cohesion. Like the threads that hold a garment together, the mechanisms that shape the female experience are often invisible, even though they determine the form of the social body. In this context, the invisible seams symbolize acts of care, knowledge transfer, informal education and creative continuity.
The visual language of the exhibition is multifaceted: painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media coexist, reflecting the complexity of the subject. Materials such as fabric, thread, metal, glass and organic materials function symbolically. The domestic and everyday are shifted from the margins to the center of the visual act, acquiring an aesthetic and political dimension.
The visual identity of the exhibition also carries particular weight. 48 points, as many as the participating creators, are united with the logic of “connect the dots” and form the figure of Aphrodite, the archetype of woman and beauty. The image summarizes the rationale of the organization: form is born from connection, unity arises from collaboration, collectivity produces aesthetic and cultural power.
“Invisible Seams” constitutes a space for dialogue where the multiple voices of visual artists intertwine into a collective body of discourse. They do not propose a single narrative about women, they highlight the complexity, ambiguity and coexistence of vulnerability and power in them.
The exhibition functions as an occasion for reflection on key questions:
How is female identity constituted today?
Which connections unite us and which limit us?
How can creation be transformed into an act of freedom?
The exhibition does not impose answers.
It creates space for thought, dialogue and awareness.
