A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Imagine Visual Arts presents the new solo exhibition of Maria Vyrra, one of the most distinguished representatives of contemporary Greek painting, entitled SPLIT. The opening will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM, and the exhibition will run until November 22.
This section reveals a painting that balances between silence and the dynamics of matter, transforming observation into an act of reflection. With work that stands out for its simplicity and the power of gesture, Maria Vyrra presents works that move between organic forms, still lifes, fragmentary objects and symbolic forms, in neutral environments. The purity of the composition and the discipline of the chromatic writing shape a world where matter acquires spiritual depth. Each work opens up a place where the surface becomes a narrative and color a language of emotion.
“Vyrras’s painting creates images of pure form and inner discipline,” notes the exhibition’s curator, Eleni Gatsa. “The concept of the split, of the cut, reveals the space where matter and light, thought and observation meet. Time is inscribed on the surface, gesture becomes a narrative and each work proposes a different way of interaction.”
The exhibition develops around two thematic axes: time, memory and matter, and light, silence and pure observation. The viewer moves in rhythms of light and shadow, discovers details that pulsate slowly and experiences painting as an experience of embodied observation. The journey from the first canvas to the last becomes a condition of inner breathing, where gaze, gesture and color are coordinated.
Maria Vyrra, a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts, has developed a personal visual language based on emotional precision and dedication to materiality. A creator with a constant presence in important exhibitions in Greece and abroad, she confirms her maturity with the exhibition SPLIT, bringing the viewer into direct contact with works that combine subtlety and intensity, abstraction and emotion.
Imagine Visual Arts in Paiania welcomes this new work, continuing to highlight artists who transform the act of painting into a field of thought and observation.
