ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Play is at the core of human experience. It is a way of exploring, learning and imagining, a way of organizing the world, trying out roles and creating stories.
This constant presence of play in life and thought is brought to the fore by the group exhibition PLAYROOM, presented at Imagine Visual Arts in Paiania.

Curated by art historian Eleni Gatsa, ten contemporary Greek artists come together in a common visual space, where play functions as a central axis of creation and storytelling. Painting, sculpture, constructions, textiles and mixed media compose a unified environment of images and objects, drawing from the memory of childhood experience and contemporary artistic thought.

The exhibition space unfolds cities made of toys and everyday materials, mechanisms that refer to assembly processes, bodies in motion and forms inspired by the world of fairy tales. Imagination is activated as a tool for understanding and redefining the world, through contemporary visual narratives with clarity and depth.

Participating artists:
Vangelis Theodoridis, Nikos Iosif, Theofilos Katsipanos, Fotios Balas, Ismini Bonatsou, Smaragda Papoulia, Vasilis Soulis, Maira Stefou, Panagiotis Tanimanidis, Marios Fournaris

PLAYROOM reminds us that play does not stop when we grow up. It simply changes form. And that imagination is a way to see the world again, perhaps a little freer, a little brighter, a little more open.
Because the child does not see things as they “should”.
Sees them as they could be.

The public can visit the exhibition with free admission on the following days and times:

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 12:00 – 21:00
Saturday - Sunday: 11:00 – 16:00
