ABOUT EXHIBITION
On Thursday, April 28, an art meteorite “explodes” in Paiania, at the new art space Imagine Visual Arts, 21 Dimitriou I. Jounta & Chr. Giannakis.
The exhibition entitled Re-Imagine features the participation of artists Vassilis Alexandrou, Elli Velliou, Giorgos Gyzis, Nikos Gyftakis, Gogo Hieromonachou, Vassilis Kavouridis, Haris Kontosfyris, Elena Kyrkili, Kleoniki Marangou, Eleanna Martinou, Lena Morphogeni, Panagiotis Nezis, Dionysis Pappas, Konstantinos Patsios, Aristides Patsoglou, Lia Petrou, Apostolis Filippou, Marios Fournaris, Stathis Fotis and the Pulvis Umbra group (Marios Antoniadis, Kostas Ziridis, Stergios Samsakis, Kostas Filippou).
Harvey Fierstein (American playwright and actor) has said that “art has the power to transform, illuminate, educate, inspire and motivate”. Inspired by the above saying, the theme of the exhibition Re-Imagine is defined as “a change in form, appearance or idea” with synonyms such as redefinition, modification, conversion, metamorphosis.
Through interventions and a series of transformations, all exhibiting artists focused on the characteristics and narrative possibilities of various materials such as fabric, concrete, wood, ceramics, paper, resins, etc. to transform materials and ideas into new realities.
Driven by the desire to communicate through changing processes, the message of change itself became the medium of each creator. In a social climate where great importance is given to factors such as self-construction and recycling with aesthetic claims, the exhibition allows conclusions to be drawn about the value and importance of materiality in today's era.
The exhibition is curated by the Art Historian of the National Academy of Fine Arts, Eleni Gatsa.
At Imagine Visual Arts we support artists by providing them with a space to showcase their work, with an emphasis on creativity and experimentation. At the same time, we collaborate with venues at a national and international level, presenting solo and group exhibitions of museum quality by artists working in all media of the visual arts.
